PostSubject: Hello there!   Sun Sep 05, 2010 1:32 pm

Hi!

I don't really know how I found this place but it looks awesome, and being a big mini fan, I couldn't wait to join Very Happy

I own two minis currently...

Middy Moo - Mini Pony
[You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]
(He likes to jump. He has inbuilt springs in those tiny hooves, I reckon!). Only have photos of him in winter on this PC...looking forward to his summer coat Very Happy

and Sparkle, my small horse. Bought her recently and am SO in love. I was measuring her head for a show halter today and she sat with her muzzle on my shoudler, sleeping (I was kneeling, haha). Photo by owner as I haven't had her in anything other than her fuzzie winter coat at the moment! (She was at Cessnock and Maitland show this year with her old owner if anyone saw her...if you happen to have pics I would love to see them!)

My other great love is Bj, my fat, fat, fat Quarab Gelding. Total crackup, this one!

I love photography, too, and have a small business. Can't wait to take 282023 pics when I start showing Sparkle soon.

Looking forward to getting to know everyone! I could blab about minis all day Very Happy

Cheers!
Emma

Thanks guys! Smile

@Ponykid - I would LOVE to jump that guy. But he's currenlty unregistered (which makes it a little difficult with some programs) and when I had him measured he was 8 ml over the limit for mini ponies, so therefore, was a section B Sad (Which I believe has just been knocked back by the RAS and they haven't made it onto show shedules). If anyone has any insight as to how I can get around this, it would be great! Smile (I don't know much about showing performance yet, LOL, only that I want to give it a go eventually!) Very Happy

When you say overheight, is that just for AMPS?

MH&PE and IMHR also do pony registration (and they are usually the ones who put on performance classes at shows too), all overheight AMPS ponies are still accepted by them, and if he is a gelding, he will be free to rego too.

AMPS and the ALHMBA, too. (They can register him as a small pony but I initially said if they weren't on the programs, I wouldn't bother). But I've just been checking out MH&PE, and they look excellent. I'm seriously considering getting my sister joined up and she can register him for free (which is FANTASTIC!) and then we could go to the upcoming show in Luddenham (because they have classes for small ponies and I would absolutely love to see either my sister or myself jump him).

Perhaps it can be done... Smile

Thanks for the help! I didn't know IMHR registered ponies...do you have a link?

Cheers! Very Happy

Yeah, and most performance events held/sponsored by MHPE are only classes as under 34" and over 34" anyway, so you get all sorts in there.

I don't have a link about IMHR registering ponies, but it was released in a bulletin at one stage that they would now do pony regos because too many people were just registering ponies and unreg shetlands as horses because IMHR was the cheaper way to go. I am pretty sure they have already brought it in, but there is no tick box on the rego form so they mustn't have updated the paperwork yet - I think you would have to just state on the form what you wanted. Best to call them if you wanted to do it though, just double check the facts!

This is good to know! It would be about 2 and a half hours for us, so I want it to be a really awesome day Very Happy (And it would be the first time I'd travelled so far, too!). The classlist looks absolutely fabulous, there is so much for our two to enter.

Ponykid - thanks so much for that info! I'll shoot them an email, because I'm already a member with them Wink Very Happy

Now the real question is...to clip...or not to clip? (None of this "to be or not to be" business!)
lol!

Grrr, ok, have encountered a brick wall :-/ My sister wants to handle my miniature pony (the black one). However, she is not a current financial member of any societies. I am and could have his rego in and a note from the registrar accompanying my entries in a flash. But getting my sister joined up before next Friday's deadline could be an issue...!

ANy ideas? :-/

If they are shedding,I wouldnt bother as you will ruin their summer coat.If they are holding onto it,like one of mine who is actully GROWING a winter coat,I would clip =)

And yep the show is sooo fun, lovely people and an enjoyable day!!!Very laid back too,and if you have any questions on the day,you will find someone willing to help you (like me or PK ) Razz

As far as I am aware to handle a horse you dont have to be a current financial member,as long as the indemnity waiver is filled out and the insurance is paid them it should be fine.

Also I would just register the pony in your name, then if your sister wants him in her name you can transfer later.

Thanks for the advice, Melinda Smile Just talks to her and it turns out she'd rather take photos than compete now...ROFLMAO Rolling Eyes

They are both losing hair, but when I part the hair, I can't see a summer coat coming through at all! Sad And I don't want them to be hairy....LOL

Hi Emma, welcome to the forum! Smile

I was at both Maitland and Cessnock shows and I think I know the horse if the previous owner also had her brother who was either a chesnut or a bay, can't remember which. Embarassed

Also I am pretty sure you have to be a member of an organization to show although at Ag shows they don't tend to bother about things like that, it's only at specialized mini shows I think it matters.

Hey! Yep, her half brother is a black/browny colour? Seen him in person too, he's cute! Are you from around that kind of area?

Yeah, just read the rules and you have to be a current financial member of the organisation. I'm waiting for my IMHR membership to come through, should be done this weekend last I heard, whoop! So I'm just going to show my pony now and my sister can do the ag shows if she wants. And thanks for the info!! Smile Very Happy

I live in the Upper Hunter and we do most the local ag shows in the Hunter region.

I wouldn't stress too much about the "rules", in my 4yrs of showing Minis, no one has ever asked to check my membership and they would usually prefer people supported the classes rather than not show because you don't have another handler that is also a member. My husband is not a member of any society, but as long as he fills out an indemnity waiver on the day, he has always been allowed to be a handler for me, because I am a member and I am the pony's owner - he is just an extra set of hands!
