Mini Floats Empty
PostSubject: Mini Floats   Mini Floats Icon_minitimeSun Sep 05, 2010 1:38 pm

Everyone seems to have a differing opinion on these, and now I've finally found one I'm totally in love with, I only have one concern.

It's single axle.

It's miniature sized which is exactly what I want as I only have a 97 Rav4 with not a whole bunch of horsepower and its towing capacity is 1500. Not to mention, if I get a full sized float, the height could be an issue if its windy, etc. So I need something light and compact.

Everyone says single axles are BAD...but is this true still if I'm only carrying one, maybe 2, minis around? And if the tyre does bust (its a brand new 09 model, too), wouldn't it only go on a slight lean onto the rim?

I would love to know what everyone else has. Smile Single axle I can also save $80 a year on rego. And every company I've seen that makes mini float is basically making them with the single axle, anyway....

Thanks for the help! Smile (from the girl who is about to tear her hair out...haha!).

Never use a single axle horse float. They roll when the tyre blows. I have seen the result NOT NICE. If you love your minis spend the extra and get a tandem float.

I thought it was illegal to carry live stock on a single axel anyway?

I could be wrong,I am not sure....
But it isnt hard to get a double axel box trailer converted into a mini float for quiet cheap.

At the risk of sounding like I don't love my mini's Razz ....

I have a single axle mini float and I love it.

(I have not heard about it being illegal to carry livestock on a single axle? Hope this is not true!)

I have also been told many times from different sources that it is illegal to carry livestock on a single axeled trailer. I am not 100% certain of the truth of this, but I do know that there are weight limits as to loads which can be carried on a single axeled trailer. Normally a trailer loaded with livestock goes over this limit, and therefore it becomes illegal.

Single axeled trailers are also VERY bouncy as they are not balanced to carry livestock, and as stated by Jendanelle, if a tyre blows, the trailer will go out of control and this can be disasterous.

I cringe when I see people carting ponies on the back of box trailers "converted" into Mini floats. Sad

I do rep work for Tuza horse floats, and they can build a special Mini float that is not the same height or weight as a standard double - it's a lot smaller. These are very well balanced floats which can easily be pulled by a sedan, so your Rav 4 could do it no worries, and you don't have the height/wind resistance to worry about either.

If you are interested in getting a quote (and yes, finance is available), don't hesitate to give me a call/sms on O416 52824O.

I also know some people that have a single axel trailer it is done out very well inside. BUT the first time they used it the ponies loaded easy to go. When it came time to go home they could not get the ponies on the trailer.
