Colour Testing

If i am going to test a pony who apparently is black Bucky. I test for the Cream Gene but is there any other test i should do?

what will the base colour tell me? im a nuff nuff when it comes to genetics

it will just give you an idea on what she has and what she will throw to different stallions.It just helps to start getting colours that you want to breed.If she comes back double black(EE) she will only throw black as she has no red gene.So if you wanted to breed a chestnut you wouldnt get one ever from her.We do these just so we know what we can produce from who.For example, if you have a chestnut(ee) with no other genetic characteristics and a full black(EE) with no other genetic characteristics and you put these together they both put in one gene each to make the two base colour genes.You will end up with a E and e and get a brown.And if you ad agouti you will get a bay.So you have a base colour first then all other genes are modifiers of this base colour ie; cream, silver,agouti,and the Dun Factor(this isnt a gene but it gets added in)...
